Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

Preparation of PRP requires a small amount of the patient’s peripheral (venous) blood (40-60 ml). In TotiCell Ltd, patient-specific (as per indications) PRP is produced using cGMP guidelines and then administered to the patients via an ultrasound-guided intra-articular injection.

Our expert physician will discuss with the patients what to expect during the PRP therapy session. Furthermore, the physician will advise the patients the following as per patients’ need: Discontinue the use of NSAIDs before 48 hours of the procedure Discontinue corticosteroid injection at the treatment site 1 month before the Procedure Discontinue systemic use of corticosteroids 2 weeks before the procedure Discontinue any blood thinning herbs, supplements, or vitamins 1 week before the procedure Have a healthy breakfast and drink plenty of water on the day of the procedure. Avoid smoking

The physician will advise the patients on the following as per patient needs: Avoid showering for the first 24 hours post-procedure Avoid post-procedure analgesia. Avoid applying ice or heat to the site of injection for the first 3 days post-procedure Avoid a hot bath or sauna for the first 3 days post-procedure Avoid blood-thinning herbs, supplements, or vitamins for the first 3 days post-procedure Avoid caffeine for the first week post-procedure Avoid alcoholic beverages for the first week post-procedure Avoid anti-inflammatory medications for 2 weeks post-procedure Avoid systematic steroids for 2 weeks post-procedure Avoid NSAIDs until healing or reaching a plateau. Contaminated areas should be disinfected in between as per doctor’s advice.

The whole treatment process may require 90-120 minutes and usually does not require any sort of rehabilitation afterward. Treatment modalities are also relatively painless with fewer side effects compared to orthopedic surgery. Patients are generally re-examined 2-6 weeks after the procedure(s) and advised future courses if required.
